Obituary for Anthony Nguyen

Anthony Nguyen, 80, passed away of natural causes at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center on Christmas Morning, 2020. Anthony was born Nguyễn Văn Cổn in Nam Định, Việt Nam on January 25, 1940. The oldest of 10 children, he went to work as a high school teacher in Vũng Tàu from 1959 to 1963. He trained and served as an AD-6 Skyraider fighter pilot and later flew in the first Northrop F-5 “Tiger” squadron. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, he escaped with his pregnant wife and 4 young children and found temporary refuge at Hope Village, in Northern California. The family settled near Cleveland, Ohio where he worked for 15 years as a quality manager at Presrite Steel Corporation. He retired to Houston, Texas in the late 1990s. Anthony is survived by his wife Lan, his stepson Huân, his children from his first marriage Cung, Chúc, Công, Diệp and Trâm, as well as his siblings Cẩm, Lương, Khoa, Dung and Luật. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Private Services will be held at Winford Funerals in Houston on January 16, 2021.
