Obituary for Changning Chen 陈昌宁

Changning “Chris” Chen, born 1984 in Nanchang, China, passed away on Monday, June 20th, 2022, after an arduous battle with long-term illness. Changning was the only child of Xixian Tong and Yanan Chen. He grew up in Nanjing, China and moved to Houston at the age of 15 to attend Bellaire High School where he found and grew his lifelong passion towards computers and engineering. A master with computers, he excelled at using technology and coding to solve many of life’s problems. He studied in an electrical engineering program at Texas A&M University, where he also started his own business in the tech industry. A celebrant of his own culture, he was skilled in playing Er Hu and practiced Chinese Calligraphy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Xi Li, of a decade, his parents, and his two delightful children. A quiet but truly empathetic person, Changning was known for his intelligence, resilience, wit, and kindness. He fought determinedly till the very last second for more time with his family. He never gave up.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 3rd from 10 am (CST) at the Winford Funeral home located at 8514 Tybor Drive, Houston, Texas. Please join us in celebrating his wonderful life.
