Floyd Leon Ballard, 72 of Houston Texas, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 following a short illness. “Leon'' was born the second of five children to Lois Mae Anderson and Leo Arthur Ballard on June 2, 1950 in Wendell, Idaho. He grew up in the small town of Dietrich, Idaho a few doors down from Dietrich High School where he attended and excelled at Basketball, including being on the State Championship basketball team in 1967. In 1969, Leon married Glenda Tews, and they had three children, Brandie, Casey, and Jodie. They raised their family in Soda Springs, Idaho. They later divorced.

Leon worked hard to achieve a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He began his career with Monsanto in 1975. He swiftly climbed several corporate ladders and after joining AES/Destec, he had the opportunity to be plant manager of many multimillion-dollar power generation plants during his career. He was tasked on multiple occasions to restructure and rehabilitate failing projects as his bosses knew he was one of the most qualified managers in the field. With these opportunities, Leon was able to travel the world and experience many countries and cultures which he enjoyed. In his retirement years, Leon enjoyed golfing with his friends, and traveling with his wife Noi to her home country of Thailand. Leon had a love for good food and regularly cooked and grilled his famous family recipes for his friends and family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Oranuch (Noi) Ballard of 27 years, his loving children Brandie (and Farooq) Khan, Casey (and Lindsay) Ballard, Jodie (and Ryan) Hale, and his twelve grandchildren, Aliya, Halah, Omar, Humzah, Michael, Grace, Lydia, Mercy, Nehemiah, Mary, Kassidi, and Jordan as well as his brothers, Lynn, Daryl, and Louis Ballard, and Alan Stoddard, and his sisters, Wendy Peterson and Dawn Jensen. He is preceded in death by his mother Lois Mae Stoddard, his father Leo Arthur Ballard, his stepfather Roger Stoddard, and his sister Susan Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23rd from 1-2pm (central standard time) at the Winford Funeral Home located at 8514 Tybor Drive, Houston, Texas. A zoom link will be provided prior to the service for online viewing for family and friends not in the Houston metro area. There will be an open viewing from 10-2pm.
