Obituary for Joseph Hien Duong

Joseph Hien Duong, a devoted husband, dad, and grandfather passed away on February 8, 2021. He was born in Vietnam on April 6, 1940. Over the next four decades, he excelled professionally where he worked as a Dentist in Vietnam. He worked hard each day for years to come ensuring his family was taken care of.

A decision was made to move the family to the United States, became a reality on December 1985, arriving in Houston, Texas. Soon after he began his career as a professor at UT Health Science Center. After teaching for nearly 18 years, he retired at 62 due to health reasons.

His hobbies were gardening, birdwatching, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always wanted an excuse to go out to eat with his family and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and grandson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Minh Nguyet; daughter: Audrey Thu Bui (Steve); sons: Tony Minh Duong (Oanh), Richard Tri Duong (Loan), Anthony Hieu Duong (Diane); sister: Guong; brothers: Trung (Hoa) and Truc (Vuong); grandchildren: Jennifer Bui (Chris McLellan), Jeannie Duong, Tiffany Bui, Michelle Duong, Ashley Duong, Julia Duong, and Bryan Duong
