Obituary for Krishan Kanta Batra

Smt. Krishan Kanta Batra transitioned from this life on August 29th, 2020, at the age of 80, as she slept with her family at her side. She was born on August 31st, 1939 in the city of Jalandhar, Punjab, India.

In 1966, she married Late Shri Om Parkash Batra and moved to Bhilai, M.P. (Chattisgarh) India, where she lived for the majority of her life and raised her family. She was a well-known English lecturer, loved and respected dearly by generations of students. She was greatly involved in her temple community and often hosted lively poojas at home, which the whole community looked forward to. Throughout her life, she was full of love and laughter, telling anyone who was struggling or enduring hardship that “Laughter is the best medicine.” She had a genuine, hearty laugh that was contagious and truly was a medicine for the soul. In 2015, after the passing of her husband, she moved to Houston, Texas, to live with her son’s family and be nearer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Smt. Kanta Batra is survived by her son Ajay, daughter-in-law Shilpi, daughter Annu, son-in-law Cedric, and grandkids Anjay, Arshia, Adriel, and Cayden. Family, friends, and well-wishers whose lives were touched by Smt. Kanta Batra are invited to celebrate her life and honor her memory by attending the service at Winford Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 at 11am at 8514 Tybor Dr, Houston, 77074. May our beloved Dadiji rest in peace, and may her kind, easygoing spirit live on within all of us.
