LUOT THI VU
May 3, 1936 - May 11, 2021

Luot Thi Vu passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 85, with her children and loved ones by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Van Vu; son, Huy Minh Vu Dang; mother, Duyen Thi Vu; brother, Dam Van Vu; sister, Tuyet Thi Vu; and her husband, Thi Vu Dang.

On May 3, 1936, Luot Thi Vu was born in Nam Dinh, Vietnam, where she spent most of her childhood with her brother and sister. Her father passed away when she was just 7 years old, leaving her mother responsible for raising their children without remarrying. At 18 years old, she was married to Thi Vu Dang. In 1954, Vietnam was divided into the North and South, her whole family left the communist North and moved to Saigon where her husband joined the Republic of Vietnam army as an officer, who rose to the rank of major. She would later give birth to 9 beautiful children: 7 sons and 2 daughters.

After Saigon fell to the communists in 1975, her husband was taken to “re-education camp” (prison for South Vietnamese soldiers). Left on her own, she raised 9 children and manage a small market by herself for 8 years. During those tumultuous 8 years, she suffered the devastating loss of her son at 15 years old while her husband was still in prison. When her husband was finally released from prison, with her husband and children, they moved to the United States in 1993 and have not looked back since.

She was a loving daughter, sister, friend, mother, and grandmother.

Throughout her life, she was committed to raising her children and taking care of her husband. Her resilience, courage, and strong work ethic carried her through these challenges in which she has overcome time and time again.

Although she had worked tirelessly, she had always thought of God in her daily life, made time for mass regularly and pray the rosary with her children every night.

Her devotion and love for God as well as the legacy she has left behind will always be remembered and appreciated by her family and loved ones.

She is survived by Minh Duc, Minh Quang, Minh Hoang, Minh Tuan, Minh Chinh, My Thanh, Minh Tri, My Linh, nephews/nieces, and many grandchildren.

Even though Luot Thi Vu is no longer here with us, she will remain forever in our hearts.
