Obituary for Ramesh Keshavji Soni

A dear husband, father and grandfather, Ramesh Keshavji Soni passed away on 6th February 2021 at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with Covid.

Ramesh was born in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania in 1944, and following education and early career, moved to Dubai in 1972 to start a family. In Dubai, he built a successful career at an industrial and engineering products & services company, where he continued to work passionately till his last days. Ramesh had a great business mind, with relentless determination and a broad perspective.

He was a great story teller, keeping family and friends captured with his anecdotes and experiences. An adventurer from early on, Ramesh loved to explore nature, as long as it was by driving a car off road! In his youth in East Africa, he drove through mountains and storms in his favourite VW Beetle. In Dubai, he took to the dunes at weekends with his family and friends, when during those times in the 80s most would have thought it too risky.

Ramesh is such a happy soul, ever the optimist, and always determined and strong-willed. Ramesh taught so many who’s lives he touched that positivity, courage and faith can overcome even the most challenging adversities. He brought joy to so many of us, with a great sense of humour and an incessant laugh. He had such a great way with children, who gravitated to his playful manner and imaginative stories.

Ramesh is survived by his wife Naina, a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
