Celebrating the Life of SKS

SKS or Shashi Kant Sharma was a gentleman extraordinaire. A kind soul, a family man, a professional and a master planner. Revered by his family and friends in equal measure, he touched everyone he met with his way of life and that way of life, connected people wherever he went.

Know by many names by his loved ones, his love for life was unparalleled. To some he was Shashi Kant, to others he was “Chacha”, “Pandit Ji”, “Captain”, “SKS”, “Nana” and for us he was just “PAPA”.

Our father was what you would call an “all rounder” - a wonderful son, caring brother , loving husband, a doting father, a wonderful grandfather and the truest and most loyal friend and guide. Papa never thought twice before helping others, even strangers.

The “Ace” departed for the heavens in the early hours of 2nd February, 2023. Without troubling anyone, he went like a true captain, the same way he dealt with backhands and forehands on the tennis court and off it.

Though our father left us suddenly, but knowing him, he would have told us, this is his time to meet the light and in turn be our guiding light for the life ahead. The void our father has left will now be filled by the thousands of memories each of us share of him and the impact he left on all our lives.

In his passing, we most cherish the strength and courage our father has given us to deal with life’s various “deliveries”. Being an avid cricketer and a fan of the sport, he would want us to face each of them on their merit and that we will.

It gives us tremendous comfort to know our father will always be watching over us, without judgement and prejudice. We know he will always be there by our sides, helping us decide between the right and the wrong and the good from the bad and he will be our strength, as we strive to continue his legacy.

His life needs to be celebrated the way he celebrated every day, on the front foot with a smile.

Hum jahaan jahaan rahenge aapka saaya saath hoga.

With these parting words we bid you farewell, for you are now in a better place - may you rest with a cup of chai and biscuits.

Cheers
